The Arabic Library in the Indian Subcontinent .. (Before the establishment of the Mughal State in India)

Dr. Samir Abdel Hamid Ibrahim

It is known that the relations between the Arabs and India extend to the pre-Islamic era. The greatest evidence of this is the presence of several Indian words in our Arabic language in the pre-Islamic eras. After a period of the arrival of the Arabs carrying the light of Islam to the land of Sindh, many Sindh scholars moved to Baghdad and blended within the Arab society. Among these are the poet Abu Ata al-Sindhi, Abu Ja'far al-Daybuli, and Abu al-Sulh al-Sindhi. The Arabic language in Sindh remained a spoken language alongside the Sindhi language.
