With the passing of the great poet Lamia Abbas Amara.. the Iraqi and Arab cultural scene lost one of its most important poetic voices.. Her departure on June 18, 2021, represented "the end of the lden poetic generation in Iraq".. which included beside her great poetic figures such as Badr Shakir al-Sayyab, Nazik Al-Malaika, Abdul Wahab Al-Bayati, and Abdul Razzaq Abdul Wahid. Lamia's origins back to the southern city of Amara, which is steeped in history and inspiring mythology, and which greatly influenced Lamia's poetic personality. Lamia did not stop at writing poetry in Arabic, but also wrote in spoken language and excelled in it too, as she excelled in her poems in classical Arabic. She represented, along with Nazik, a unique and rare voice among male poetic voices.
