All attempts by historians to date the emergence of writing have failed, and the inscriptions and drawings drawn by the oldest human civilizations on earth have not been able to resolve the date of the appearance of writing. Some emphasize that the first appearance was in China, while others assert Egypt, and some lean toward Mesopotamia. We met with Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Jarallah Al-Ghazi to learn about the history of writing and its scripts in the Arabian Peninsula.
