The Safat Clock in Deira Square, Riyadh, began working in 1966. It was a project of Riyadh’s first mayor, Prince Fahd Al-Faisal. Known as the Big Ben of Riyadh, it initially featured a woman’s voice announcing the time, which was later changed to a man’s voice following religious consultations.
