The private medical library of Dr. Sami Ibrahim Haddad (1890 – 1957 AD) stores most of the medical books known to Islamic civilization. Ibn Abi Usaybi'ah did well in his book "Uyun al-Anba fi Tabaqat al-Atibba" (Eyes of News on the Classes of Physicians), in narrating more than a hundred biographies of physicians including: Muslims, Syriac Christians, Jews, and Sabians. All these translated individuals are members of Islamic society and its civilization, so everyone is a partner in the image of this giving. Hence, Dr. Haddad wanted to join this school through his scientific mission in his lectures and large scientific works, providing the ideal image of medicine in the history of Islamic civilization, and he went about collecting the books of this scientific heritage in this library. This collection cost him to track the book wherever it exists, by obtaining it even by photographing, as witnessed by his travel to London and his photographing of eleven manuscripts of Galen, Al-Zahrawi and Ibn al-Nafis. Dr. Haddad's library became a center of interest for the Institute of Arabic Scientific Heritage in Aleppo, and the German Institute for Oriental Research in Beirut. The library also contains a large volume of photos of Bimaristans (hospitals) in Cairo, Palestine, Damascus and Aleppo, taken by Dr. Haddad himself during his travels.
