When the Arab Muslims conquered Al-Andalus, they brought civilization, science, and culture to it, so that its cities, led by the capital Cordoba in the tenth century, became a beacon of science and civilization intended by the princes and kings of Europe to receive sciences and learn civilization at the hands of the Arabs. Islamic Cordoba became the jewel of science and civilization in the European continent and the Western world.

The Spanish historian, John Brand Trend, says in his description of Cordoba: "Cordoba, which surpassed all the capitals of Europe in civilization during the tenth century, was in fact the object of admiration and wonder of the world. Those coming to it from the north used to hear with something like reverence and awe about that city that contains seventy libraries." Spain is now the heir to this culture left by the Muslims, which has added a lot to it in the field of publishing and the book industry in size, quality and modernization, becoming the fourth largest publisher in the world and the third in the European environment, with an annual production volume of more than 70,000 titles, despite the weight of this cultural industry and its huge potential, and despite the strong competition of modern knowledge media.
