"Saudi Taroq" begins its journey to preserve musical and performance heritage in Asir

The Asir region will witness, next Sunday, March 20, the launch of the field tour of the "Saudi Taroq" program to preserve the musical and performance heritage, under the sponsorship of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission and the Music Commission. The research tour continues to enumerate the traditional musical and performance colors in the Asir region in the field.

The tour lasts for a month, in which the program's field researchers participate with the people of the region, specialists, researchers, and practitioners of performing arts to enumerate these colors and then document them according to scientific and technical methodologies through implementing field visits in the Asir region.

It is noteworthy that the Asir region is the first of the Kingdom's regions on which the "Saudi Taroq" program will work to preserve the musical and performance heritage, according to an integrated plan to document the traditional musical and performance colors in all regions of the Kingdom, and with a comprehensive vision seeking to preserve and present them locally and globally in a template that motivates researchers and artists to study them and benefit from their cultural and human value.

The Saudi Ministry of Culture works according to a comprehensive strategic plan through a large group of specialized commissions to enhance Saudi culture in its various intellectual, literary, knowledge, artistic, and heritage elements, considering that culture includes arts, literature, customs, traditions, antiquities, heritage, performing arts, and qualitative material and intangible heritage, which highlights to the world the true "soul of Saudi Arabia" and its diverse cultural and civilizational impact.
