First Saudi Arab to act in Hollywood 84 years a .. Asia Al-Rawaf tells her father's memories and his cinematic leadership

Interviewed by: Maryam Al-Jaber. No one in the Kingdom could believe that a Saudi would reach the world cinema city of Hollywood and participate in one of its important films in the 1930s. But this is exactly what happened with Khalil Al-Rawaf, who is considered the first Arab to set foot in Hollywood since its beginnings, where he reached it after a long journey starting from his hometown of Buraidah and moving between several Arab cities before settling in Hollywood, which was nascent at the time, to break into its cinematic field and participate in the famous film "Cover the War" starring Hollywood legend John Wayne in 1937. His daughter, Dr. Asia Khalil Al-Rawaf, who missed his smile, mentions that "the father" was a multi-talented adventurer and traveler of the first order. He spent a period of his life in America and did not hesitate to try anything new. Even his participation in acting as the first Saudi to participate in cinema in Hollywood was by chance, as his presence in America coincided with the filming of a movie simulating the nature of the desert, so they wanted to benefit from his experience with Bedouin dress, customs and traditions, and after that he joined the film. In 2019 he was honored, as the state does not fall short; its eye is always on the pioneers, giving them their due honor.
