When the world saw the young #Andrea_Bocelli singing "Con te partirò" for the first time

With the announcement of his upcoming concert in Saudi Arabia next month, it is the right time to remember the rise of this charming star, Andrea Bocelli, in the world of music, from the first step, according to a report published by "Classic FM" website of the most famous radio station specialized in classical music.

In the report translated by Ahwal Al-Ma'rifa, the first glimpse of this star in his singing career was in 1995, when Andrea Bocelli entered a singing competition, and the world heard his voice for the first time.

But the beloved Italian tenor's song had humble beginnings, with more than a hint of the magic to come, before becoming famous as "Time to Say odbye"

Before he met Sarah Brightman, a young Bocelli sang "Con te partirò" for the first time on stage in a televised competition in 1995.

In the end, this song helped define his career, although he was not convinced by it when it was first offered to him, as Bocelli had serious doubts about it: "When it arrived at my house, the song was a candidate for the Sanremo Festival in which I would soon participate. I said: This song is not od because the festival is a competition. And this is not a competition song. It is a deep song. A timeless song. But it is not for a competition."

He adds: "In fact, when I gave in, we brought the song to Sanremo and only reached fourth place... After that, the song went through the journey that everyone knows."

Bocelli recorded it for his album and the song topped the charts in France and then in Belgium, breaking records in both countries.

By the beginning of 1996, the song was rapidly gaining momentum. British soprano Sarah Brightman heard it and convinced Bocelli to sing it as a duet with her, adding some of the song's lyrics in English, during the opening of the retirement ceremony of German boxer Henry Maske on November 23, 1996.

After that, "Time to Say odbye" became the signature classical pop song.

The song was written by Italian rock star Zucchero, who first met Bocelli in 1992 when he auditioned to make a demo tape for his song "Miserere", which was intended for Luciano Pavarotti.

When Pavarotti heard the young tenor singing in the demo, he urged Zucchero to use Bocelli instead. Finally, at Zucchero's persuasion, the three stars recorded the song as a trio.

Shortly after, Bocelli won a contract to record his album. He also won the preliminary round of the Sanremo Festival, receiving the highest marks ever recorded in the newcomers section. The following year, he entered the festival achieving another record.

At that time, in 1995, he sang the song "Con te partiro" and captured the world's imagination with his charming songs.

For Bocelli himself, finding his signature song was a moment of pure joy: "Obviously it brought confidence, optimism and general euphoria. For me and also for everyone who worked with me."
