"Jax Film Studios" Enhances Riyadh's Global Position in Filmmaking and Media Production
The Film Commission announced the establishment of "Jax Film Studios" in the capital Riyadh, to be a complete and modern production facility considered one of the most prominent in the region, as part of its efforts to develop a leading cinematic infrastructure that enhances its position as a global center for filmmaking and media production.
The project is scheduled for completion during 2025. "Jax Film Studios" extends over an area of more than 7,000 square meters, and includes two sound studios, each with an area of 1,500 square meters, along with a sophisticated virtual production unit supported by the latest screen technologies from Sony.
The facility also includes a private cinema for screenings, spaces for receptions and events, and areas dedicated to production preparation, to serve the diverse needs of modern cinematic production.
The facility is located in a strategic location in the city of Riyadh, allowing easy access to various service destinations. It is also distinguished by its proximity to a growing system of competencies in creative and technical fields, providing filmmakers with all their needs within a range not exceeding 20 minutes.
CEO of the Film Commission, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani, said: Jax Film Studios represents an essential station in our strategy to build a cinematic system with global standards in the Kingdom. With the rapid development of the film industry in the Kingdom as one of the most important production destinations in the region, this facility was designed to keep pace with the highest international standards and contribute to empowering local talents and attracting global competencies.
For his part, the General Manager of Sector Development and Investment Attraction at the Film Commission, Abduljalil Al-Nasser, indicated that Jax Film Studios will provide one of the largest and most advanced virtual production platforms in the world, with the latest technologies from Sony, allowing unlimited creative possibilities.
This step is an extension of the Commission's long-term investments in developing infrastructure and developing talents, and strengthening partnerships with global entities, in line with the ,als of Saudi Vision 2030, and enhances the Kingdom's ability to host joint local and international productions.
This announcement came during the Film Commission's participation in the 78th session of the Cannes International Film Festival, where the Commission hosted the Saudi Pavilion, which witnessed a global presence of filmmakers, producers, and specialists in the media sector. The pavilion also enjoyed the support of a number of local partners. Multiple national entities representing various sectors of the media and entertainment industry participated in the festival, including content development, production, distribution, and international cooperation, within a unified vision aiming to support national talents and enhance the Kingdom's position on the map of the global cinema industry.
