Crowd Management in the Hajj Season: A Saudi Experience that Dazzled the World

The Hajj season constitutes the largest religious ritual in which Muslims gather from the easts of the earth and its wests in these pure spots in Mecca where Muslims perform the Hajj rituals, which sometimes extend to visiting Medina, the city of the Holy Prophet, may d bless him and grant him peace. Perhaps the Coronary phase the world is living through imposed a precautionary health and medical vision for this year's Hajj 1442 AH that led to determining the number of pilgrims for this year at (60) thousand pilgrims, but the great efforts that the Kingdom is making for the sake of a healthy, blessed Hajj, by which it maintains the health of the pilgrims and the performance of the rituals of Hajj with ease and peace.

It is impossible for the Hajj season to pass without talking about the colossal efforts of the Kingdom, which the Kingdom's leadership, vernment, and institutions are honored to provide to the guests of the Most Merciful, especially if we look at the number of pilgrims and Umrah performers who flock to the Holy Capital.

Hajj is the Largest Human Gathering

The Hajj season is the largest human gathering in the world, in terms of the number of pilgrims and the diversity of their nationalities, languages, colors, and cultures in terms of the space in which they move, and in terms of the volume of services provided to them from their arrival until their return to their countries. The Kingdom is the first country in the world in "human crowd management."

Science of Crowd Management

And if the management of crowds or human gatherings is a science that has recently emerged with its concepts and methods and developed countries have been interested in it because of people's need for it, we Muslims have an original root of that, which is the act of the Prophet, may d bless him and grant him peace, then his noble companions. When he, peace be upon him, saw the crowds of people and their pushing, among whom were the old, the young, the weak, and women, he called out: "O people, tranquility, tranquility, for piety is not in haste." He repeated this guidance, so when he departed from Arafat he called out: "Tranquility, O servants of d."

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the modern era, based on its high message, its religious status, and its honor with the existence of the Two Holy Mosques and the Holy Sites on its lands, presents to the world a unique experience in organizing the Hajj and managing crowds and gives a great model that is repeated every year in the Hajj season that can benefit the world in this aspect, rather it establishes , principles, theories, and scientific lessons and experience on the ground that is repeated annually.

Countless Services

Hajj rituals, as is known, take only six days: Tarwiyah day, Arafat day, the Day of Sacrifice, and the three days of Tashreeq. But the vernment of the Kingdom, may d protect it, with all its ministries, institutions, and agencies, prepares for each season a year before it. Efforts are joined and concerned authorities and responsible institutions cooperate in providing all services to the pilgrims and Umrah performers. There is no country in the world except the Kingdom that spends more than 100 billion riyals to build infrastructure, and establish an integrated city of services and vernment facilities of hospitals, a communication network, roads, and tunnels to operate for a period of only six days from each year and then close for the sake of serving the pilgrims and the guests of the Sacred House of d.
