Red Sea Days between documentary screenings and cultural and historical issues
The activities of the third edition of the "Red Sea Documentary Days" program witnessed a remarkable turnout of visitors, in the screenings organized by the Red Sea International Film Festival in cooperation with the "Art Jameel" Foundation, at "Hayy Cinema" in Jeddah, the first independent center for cinematic and audiovisual arts in the Kingdom.
The program's screenings varied between documentaries that tell personal stories, and others that deal with cultural and historical issues from multiple human angles, within eleven local, Arab and international films, reflecting the richness of the visual experience and opening new horizons for the audience.
Among the most prominent works shown were the film "4 Little Girls" by director Spike Lee, "Yalla Parkour" by Areeb Zuaiter, "When Light Radiates" by Rayan Al-Bashari, "Asir Memory" by Saeed Tahitah, "Othman in the Vatican" by Yasser bin Ghanim, "Al-Roshan" by Muhammad Aws, "Kimokazi" by Abdulrahman Batawi, "Dahomey" by Mati Diop, "Tell Them About Us" by Rand Beiruti, "My Way" by Thierry Teston and Lisa Azuylos, and "I Raised My Eyes to the Sky" by Nada Riyadh and Ayman Al-Amir.
Within the program, the "Dialogue" seminar was presented, which focused on the role of women in the documentary field, in addition to workshops that dealt with documentary photography, its methods and classifications, and sought to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete their creative projects.
These activities come within the framework of the Red Sea International Film Festival's efforts to support the documentary scene and enhance cultural dialogue, through works that simulate reality, document societal transformations, and shed light on human issues from various angles.
