Participated in by 18 specialists in the literary field .. "Towards Cultural Supplements" forum concludes with a discussion on cultural supplements and future needs
The "Towards Cultural Supplements" forum concludes its research sessions today, Sunday, September 18, with a session under the title "Cultural Supplements and Future Needs", and the sessions end with a dialogue with media professional Muhammad Nasrallah.
The forum was opened on Friday at the Hilton Riyadh Hotel and 18 speakers from interested and specialized in the literary field participated in it - as it discusses the role of cultural supplements in shaping the Saudi literary scene, through dialogue sessions, meetings, a youth discussion ring, and an accompanying exhibition.
The first session on the first day of the forum was entitled "Cultural Supplements: Genesis, Features of Influence," and in a subsequent session, attendees discussed "First Publication: Impact and Challenges," and the sessions concluded with a dialogue with the editor-in-chief of Al-Watan newspaper, Othman Al-Sini.
The forum shed light on its sessions for the second day on "Cultural Supplements between the Mood of the Creator and the Transformations of the Reader", and also included a youth discussion ring on cultural supplements and the ideal model.
The forum comes as organized by the Academy of Arabic Poetry, with support from the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority. The Academy seeks through the forum to continue its support for the sites of literary movement in general, and poetic in particular, and to shed light on the genesis of cultural supplements in Saudi newspapers, and research in its roots, and extend communication bridges to discuss its present time, and the most prominent literary issues that took place among circles of intellectuals, and foresees its challenges and its future in the Kingdom.
It is noted that the forum includes an accompanying exhibition that contains the archive of Saudi newspapers with the participation of four newspapers: "Al-Riyadh, Okaz, Al-Yaum, and Arriyadiyah".
The Academy of Arabic Poetry presented an accompanying pavilion for the forum comprising a report prepared by the Academy on the state of Arabic poetry in 2019, in addition to displaying the Sawb magazines provided by the Academy. The pavilion also contained 4 special books for the late Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal that will be on the market soon.
It is noted that the Academy of Arabic Poetry is an institution specialized in developing Arabic poetry, supporting its historical and contemporary studies and publishing them, qualifying and developing the talents of poetic and critical talents, supporting, encouraging and honoring distinguished poets and critics, holding conferences, forums, seminars and specialized lectures, issuing annual reports on the current state of Arabic poetry, and other activities, events and programs.
