Inaugurated the Encyclopedia and the Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition Virtually, King Abdulaziz Public Library Shines at Riyadh International Book Fair with its Publications and Acquisitions
The King Abdulaziz Public Library shone remarkably during its participation in the Riyadh International Book Fair, which was held during the period from October 1-10, 2021, at the Riyadh Front, where it presented through its pavilion at the exhibition, a large number of cultural events that highlight its distinguished cultural and cognitive capabilities.
In addition to its participation by displaying groups of its various publications in the field of Saudi history, the Comprehensive Encyclopedia of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the history of King Abdulaziz Al Saud – may ,d rest his soul – and specialized books on equestrianism and Arab horses, and books translated from international languages into Arabic, as well as a number of encyclopedias and illustrated books, it allocated a children's corner to display children's stories and drawing, and publications specialized in child culture, in addition to placing visual screens to explain the most prominent library projects and programs to exhibition visitors.
The library also displayed in (The Cultural Avenue) a number of rare manuscripts, coins, and currency from different historical periods and chronological documents, in addition to rare books in many sciences, where the library displayed 30 manuscripts, 10 currencies, 5 documents, and 5 rare books.

The General Supervisor of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, His Excellency Mr. Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muaammar, inaugurated the Encyclopedia of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia electronically. This encyclopedia documents all regions of the Kingdom with scientific and research documentation from various historical, geographical, social, and economic perspectives. His Excellency also inaugurated the Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition, which the library is holding throughout the year 2021 via Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR) technology.
Mr. Faisal bin Muaammar said about this inauguration: In response to the initiative of His Highness the Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Farhan Al Saud, we launched the International Exhibition of Arabic Calligraphy, which King Abdulaziz Public Library is holding simultaneously between Riyadh, Casablanca, and Beijing. Today we celebrate its launch through virtual reality and augmented reality technology to allow its visit from various countries of the world.
This inauguration constitutes a qualitative leap in the library's march, which aims to digitize its various contents including books, photos, documents, maps, coins, and rare acquisitions to become available to researchers in various parts of the world.
The library also inaugurated the children's story: "The Saudi Ardah" by the author Fatima Khoja as a summary, extension, and reformulation of the book: "The Saudi Ardah" which was issued by the library in its first edition in the year 2018. The inauguration took place with the participation of children in the (Ensan) Association, providing the Saudi child with a comprehensive vision of the Saudi Ardah which carries a historical dimension and expresses as an artistic outlook the biography of the Kingdom and its establishment.
On another note, the Arab Awards Forum honored the Secretary-General of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, Dr. Saeed bin Fayez Al-Saeed, in appreciation of his prominent efforts in the cognitive root of cultural interaction through a journey of nearly 15 years with this international award.
Great Importance:
The Library's pavilion during the days of the exhibition received a large number of official and unofficial visits, while it enjoyed great turnout from the audience of exhibition visitors. Among these visits was His Excellency the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Hassan Nazim inspecting the library's pavilion and viewing its publications and exhibits, where His Excellency praised the cultural role of the library, and what it undertakes in contributions that have great importance in Arab culture. His Excellency said:
"I am honored to visit King Abdulaziz Public Library in its pavilion here behind me with the treasures it possesses from manuscripts and coins. This library has great importance in Arab culture and in Saudi culture specifically, and we have ties with its distinguished management. Its contribution today within the Riyadh International Book Fair activities represents an addition to these events, to this cultural demonstration in the Kingdom through the Ministry of Culture - Riyadh Book Fair. Iraq is also in a special position as the guest of honor for this exhibition, and therefore all these attached events from seminars, dialogues, festivals, and exhibitions of these treasures in King Abdulaziz Public Library from manuscripts and coins strengthen this cultural demonstration..."
