In a Rare Book from the Library of Congress Collections: Postal issues and stamps of Hejaz, Jeddah, and Nejd in the early 20th century

Abdullah Al-Smati writes: Postage stamps from the early days of the Saudi state are important historical documentation. The Library of Congress holds a rare book titled "The Postal Issues of Hejaz, Jeddah and Nejd" by D.F. Warin (d. 1935), published in 1927. It includes stamps issued between 1916 and 1927, marking significant phases in modern Saudi history.

The book provides geographical and historical notes on the first stamps and their development in printing and design. Most of these stamps were designed in Cairo. At the time, income from stamps was a significant revenue source in the Arabian Peninsula. This book helps researchers understand the founding of the Kingdom and its early administrative history through the lens of postal service.
