This encyclopedic work is the product of scientific and cultural cooperation between King Abdulaziz Public Library and Layan Cultural Foundation, which comes to highlight our heritage and introduce our authentic culture regarding camels and to highlight the historical background that the camel occupies in Arab history and heritage for thousands of years, which formed the historical binary relationship between the camel and human in his life, settling, and traveling.

This book, which is presented to researchers, scholars, and those interested in the Arab and Islamic heritage associated with the camel and the human, is one of the most important scientific and cognitive works and is published in two volumes in Arabic and English, where academics and specialists in camel history from all over the world participated in its preparation. It also includes precious images of archaeological discoveries and artistic antiques from several international museums, depicting the history of the camel throughout the ages, a collection of which will be displayed in the exhibition.

The interest in heritage and converting its value into scientific material and publishing it in scientific, cultural, and social circles comes as an extension of the great care given by the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince, to maintain the cultural and cognitive structure of the Arab and Islamic heritage, which constitutes some manifestations of ancient life and its extensions to our current era, including what relates to the vital heritage formed by the camel or the ship of the desert in the Arabian Peninsula; in line with the full care and attention given by Saudi Arabia since its unification until our prosperous era to this living heritage and highlighting the close relationship between camels and the inhabitants of the Arabian Peninsula

Then it became a traditional symbol for the Arabian Gulf region, which its breeding still remains one of the prominent desert activities .
