Arabic Culture in the Library of Congress: A Treasure Trove of Arabic Documents and Manuscripts

The Library of Congress is considered the largest in the world, rather it is as the global classification of libraries says, the most expensive library on earth and the most secure. The Library of Congress was established in 1800 AD to serve members of Congress initially and started with a budget of $5,000 to exceed its current budget of $600 million. The idea of establishing the Library of Congress belongs to the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, where it was inaugurated with 740 books and 3 maps of the United States. It currently includes 130 million items, including 29 million books and printed materials in 460 languages and 58 million documents. All this intellectual and human stock is preserved in several buildings in the heart of the capital, Washington. In other states, there are three buildings in one area connected by several underground tunnels. The oldest of these buildings is the (Thomas Jefferson) building, which was established in 1897 AD. In this building, there is a main reading room that stands at a height of 160 feet in the octanal reading base, containing 60,000 references in addition to part of the general index, which includes 25 million cards.
