Humanitarian Giving

By Dr. Ahmad Abd Al-Rahim Al-Sayeh

It may be clear that giving can be viewed as a vessel for a positive content in interaction, being a tool for change, and re-grasping the controls of effective presence, reaching to restoring life to a revivalist project that caresses the hopes of societies for renewal and launch. If the nation possesses a philosophy of life, and a legitimate presence in cultural work that enables it to develop purposeful awareness; it still carries much of its pulse, and possesses all the capabilities of influx, rising, and passion towards a bright future. It is recognized that the person of giving lives in an active intellectual movement; because Islam builds in the giving person the positive spirit that qualifies him for giving, and develops in him the ability to innovate, through the horizons of thinking and practice it opens for him, and what it provides him of self-construction, for the person to become mature in the shadow of a conscious rationality; because life in the Islamic perspective is work, construction, giving, and competition in od deeds, the Almighty said: [And for each is a direction to which he faces; so compete in od deeds] Al-Baqarah 148. We realize that the positive person has strength in religion, firmness in gentleness, faith in certainty, keenness in science, science in forbearance, humility in worship, patience in hardship, seeking the permissible, and activity in rationality. Giving is manifested in man's conception of the of od, beauty, and perfection. The giving personality always tends towards a future and programs its march on noble . Thus, the giving personality becomes a balanced rational personality, not dominated by emotion, nor controlled by thinking resulting from the fluidity of the mind. Giving and work are two inseparable facts in the life of the active human, and they are the most prominent manifestation of his humanity, and the deepest cause of progress and elevation; because human life with all its cultural manifestations and od relations is only a practical result of knowledge based on giving and work. Without this, societies would not have known civilization. Giving makes man feel a great responsibility and role in life away from stagnation. It is easy to live for oneself, but glory is living for the nation and its progress. Man was made a vicegerent on earth to carry the trust: [Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it] (Al-Ahzab 72). This is the trust of development and civilization. Great men and women graduated from the school of giving, making their nation and humanity their cause. It is the duty of the nation to remember those who worked for it and gave society everything that would take the hand of man. By getting to know the giving of the givers, the nation can correct the path. Human personality is determined by internal truths such as thought and culture interacting with the external world. Therefore, the identity of the personality makes the distinguishing boundaries for the human, the society, and the nation.
