"Nuqush" Tells the Stories of Heritage Places and Opens Visitors' Lenses for Documentation


The activities of the project for activating heritage assets "Nuqush" (Inscriptions), which was launched by the Heritage Commission and continues for a whole month in the Riyadh region, have received great follow-up from various segments of society to learn about heritage and accompanying diverse cultural and creative activities, aimed at adding a new spirit to the heritage sites in the region.

The activities are held on two tracks, the first is (Majmaah - Ghat) and the second track is (Jubailah - Sadus). The heritage sites include a group of activities, including:

The artisans' market, traditional heritage shows, cultural meetings and tours that address the stories and history of these places and their authentic heritage.

In addition to activating special programs for children, including old folk games and heritage workshops.

The activities also showcase handicrafts, along with visitors' experience of tasting traditional dishes in many locations, with an introduction to their preparation methods due to their connection with intangible heritage, and showcasing the aesthetics of urban heritage sites with sound and light shows on their facades.

In Al-Ghat ,vernorate, visiting the Emirate Palace, activating the coffee council, and enjoying cultural tours in the Ghat heritage village and the Emirate Palace are made available, along with providing heritage workshops for children.

In Majmaah ,vernorate, visitors will have a unique experience of stargazing, enjoying it from the top of Mount "Munaikh" using a telescope, and visiting the "Composition" exhibition in the historic Al-Askar Palace, which contains a collection of books that talk about the history of Majmaah, its architecture, and its tangible and intangible heritage.

Sadus town also receives a qualitative urban heritage experience that narrates the influence of architect Christopher Hanke on the building style of Sadus town through a photo exhibition, and a return to the past through "Jalsat Musayyan," which is a recreation area among palm farms where hospitality is provided in an ideal atmosphere for exchanging talk and enjoying the site. Also, the "Year of Saudi Coffee" initiative records its presence through multiple activities in several locations to highlight the value of Saudi coffee and its cultural and social connotations as a cultural symbol associated with the of authentic Saudi generosity and hospitality.
