Mahjar Literature.. between feelings of nostalgia and bitterness of exile

Mahjar Literature.. between feelings of nostalgia and bitterness of exile

Dr. Walid Mashouh

This term deals with the study of the literature left to us by emigrants to North and South America, noting that the influences of the place were clear in the literature of those travelers to the American lands of exile. Emigration in Arabic poetry has been evident since the oldest ages of pre-Islamic poetry. Anyone who reads the poetry of subsequent eras finds that emigration has turned into a major theme across different eras. The Arab Lami'yyah (as it was titled) represents the best representation of the manifestations of the theme of emigration in Arabic poetry.
