The British Museum displays the first Saudi Riyal minted during the reign of the Founding King

The British Museum in London displays within its holdings the first Saudi Riyal minted during the reign of the founding King Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1354 AH (1935 AD). The Saudi Riyal on display is a silver coin featuring a central circle with two crossed swords inside a decorative frame surrounded by two palm trees, which is the emblem of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. After King Abdulaziz Al Saud was able to unify the scattered parts of the country, the Royal Decree No. 2716 was issued in 1351 AH (1932 AD) transforming the country into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and it was decided to use the title (King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). This title did not appear on the currency until the year 1354 AH (1935 AD).
