“Saudi Ardah” and “Qaoud” in interesting storytelling styles within the efforts of King Abdulaziz Public Library to revive #Saudi_Heritage and take pride in it.
The Libraries Commission continues to hold its activities in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Public Library at the Abha Summer Festival 2022, which is held under the slogan "Above the Mountains" in the Sky Abha Garden, through a number of cultural interactive activities and programs for children and adolescents; to motivate them to read and inform them about the Saudi heritage in interesting storytelling styles.
The activities come under the title "Abha Reads", targeting children aged 3-6 years, and 6-12 years, in addition to the adolescent cate,ry from 12-14 years, and also include parents. They include interactive corners, and creative workshops that link the child to his identity and heritage through drawing Al-Qatt Al-Asiri art, and writing the story using the Round Robin technique that teaches the child to write parts of the story in a creative way and in record time.
The event also presents, within its efforts to revive Saudi heritage and take pride in it, a number of short story publications that were prepared and designed in a suspenseful style that enriches the child's information about his heritage, in addition to allowing children the opportunity to express their heritage and pride in it through interactive stories that they share in during their narration.
Meanwhile, the "Story Farm" corner witnessed a visit of more than 2,000 children since the launch of the event, to see the latest publications of children's libraries, whose most prominent titles included "Saudi Ardah", which is a storybook with a distinctive design character aimed at introducing the Ardah as an authentic Saudi symbol. It reflects its feature in moving national feelings and emotions full of pride and loftiness, as well as its distinctive arts of poetry, rhythm, melody and fashion, and its role in being included in the World Intangible Heritage List in 2015 AD.
The Story Farm also provided the book "Qaoud", which was issued during the Camel Festival and addresses in its pages a story about the distinctive points of beauty among people in form, capabilities and personality traits, and how to explore and develop them in a suspenseful storytelling way whose hero is a small camel called "Qaoud" which reflects the camel's connection to Saudi culture and heritage, in addition to the book "Hajj Rituals" which embodies a visualization for children about the pilgrims' journey to the House of ,d, starting from their feelings on the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, through the rituals and religious rites until the pilgrims return to their homes safely.
It is noteworthy that the event also includes an outdoor cinema showing short videos about folk and ancient tales, to allow the family a dialogue opportunity between generations, thereby enhancing the role of tales and their influence in the family's history and its cultural formation.
