Global Cultural Horizon for Saudi Architects .. Architecture and Design Arts Commission Participates in Venice Biennale in Italy for the Year 2023
The architectural leap witnessed by the Kingdom in recent years constitutes an important element of modern architectural culture, especially with the transition to open-horizon architectural styles, and the interest in establishing international cities in various regions of the Kingdom, and establishing future cities as in Neom which enhances various national and international architectural design arts on the territory of the Kingdom.
The Kingdom's participation in international exhibitions and international forums interested in architecture and design arts comes to allow Saudi architects and artistic talents concerned with modern or heritage architecture styles to present the artistic aspects of Saudi architectural styles before the pioneers of these exhibitions and forums so that they can learn about the characteristics and arts of architecture in the Kingdom.
The Architecture and Design Arts Commission had announced a few days a its participation in the 18th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023.
The CEO of the Commission, Dr. Sumayah Al-Sulaiman, expressed in the press conference held in the city of Riyadh her happiness at participating for the third time in an ancient international biennale specialized in architecture like the Venice Biennale, which was launched in 1895 AD, explaining that the Commission's participation this year embodies the culture of the Kingdom through the Saudi National Pavilion, where the arts of architecture stand out as one of the components of Saudi culture and its important pillars, alongside supporting talented people and local competencies in the architecture and design sector.
She added: "This edition of the Biennale is looking for architectural solutions for contemporary human social issues, especially since the nature of the architect urges him to continuously search for solutions and innovations," noting that the Commission was keen to open participation for all architects, researchers and specialists through this edition, trying to discover and support talents, promote equal opportunities, and provide the best entries.

The Architecture and Design Arts Commission seeks to promote excellence in the architecture and design arts sector, in a way that reflects the culture and aspirations of the Kingdom and empowers national talents, with the aim of raising the quality of life and placing the Kingdom at the forefront of the global creative scene.
The Commission aims to develop the sector and support practitioners in this field, and build an architectural and design scene that simulates the rich and diverse culture of the Kingdom while keeping pace with global practices.
The sector includes interior design, planning, urban design, landscape architecture, graphic design and industrial design, and the professions, products, activities and services associated with these specializations.
The architecture and design arts sector is also a creative expression represented in the built environment, products and visual communication, and carries aesthetic and practical value that reflects cultural heritage, and is an integral part of the Kingdom's culture.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom participated in two previous editions of the Venice Architecture Biennale during the years 2018 and 2021, and this is the third participation in which the Kingdom is present through the Saudi National Pavilion, where the reception of entries is scheduled to end on September 25, 2022.
