More than 50 forums and gatherings in the regions of the Kingdom – Literary and cultural salons: will they regain their glow or disappear?
Literary and cultural salons in the Kingdom highlight the state of qualitative cultural movement carried out by writers, authors and intellectuals in their periodic meetings through forums and gatherings organized by cultural salons, which include many issues related to the literary, intellectual and cultural reality and the publication of books and publications in general.
With the dense spread of social media sites in the Kingdom and the world, direct meetings have faced a change in their rates and the intensity of their attendance, especially with the emergence of the Corona pandemic starting from December 2019 and what that requires of carrying out precautionary measures, social distancing and preventing gatherings, which affected the movement of cultural salons as well as various activities that require public gatherings, and this cast its shadow on the holding and continuation of cultural salons, as they almost stopped being held.
There are more than 50 literary and cultural salons in the Kingdom, the most prominent of which are: the Ithnainiyyah of Abu Malha in Abha, the Ithnainiyyah Forum in Jeddah by the writer Abdul Maqsoud Khoja, the Bu Khamsin Cultural Forum in Dammam, the Thursday Cultural Meeting of Hamad Al-Jasser, the Sunday meeting of Rashid Al-Mubarak, the Abdullah Al-Madi Forum, the Sunday meeting of Mohammed Al-Babtain, the Tuesday meeting of Mohammed Al-Mushuah, the Thursday meeting of Wafa in Riyadh, the Saif Forum and the Wednesday meeting of Al-Furaih in Hail, the Taraf Cultural Gathering, the Muhaish Cultural Forum, the Ithnainiyyah of Al-Naeem in Al-Ahsa, the Mohammed Kamel Al-Khuja Forum in Madinah, the Dr. Musaed Al-Atwi Gathering in Tabuk and other cultural salons that hold their seminars weekly or monthly.
Among the women's cultural salons: Sarah Al-Khathlan Literary Salon in Dammam, the Sunday Cultural Gathering salon for women in Riyadh, the Cultural Gathering in Jeddah, the Al-Maha Literary Gathering in Jeddah by the writer Maha Fatihi, the Makkah Women's Portico, the Sultana Al-Sudairi Cultural Gathering, the Safiya bint Zagr Cultural Salon in Jeddah, and the Maryam Al-Juhani Forum in Madinah.

Here, the value of these salons is reinforced, which are no longer in their previous cultural brightness and glow, and followers raise the question of their stopping, decline or disappearance.
Direct dialogue between the attendees in the literary or cultural salon has its role in making an effective cultural context, and it presents a collective achievement that defines the fields of cultural act and its identity, especially if cultural salons are reinforced with publications and releases that work on documenting literary thought and creativity in its various cultural stages.

From here, the importance of the survival or absence of these cultural salons is a question imposed by the cultural moment and the extent of the interaction and communication of intellectuals in the Kingdom.
