The Future of Paper Media... In Light of the Growing Electronic Media Tide

The cognitive issue remains a dialectic between paper media with its long history of communication, and electronic media that pursues this experience, threatens it, and seeks to displace it by investing in modern technical communication media.

Speakers have announced the loss of the battle for print newspapers against electronic ones and the end of the era of paper and ink, especially as dozens of major and historical newspapers worldwide have closed their doors after declaring bankruptcy. They noted that 30% of American newspapers are either sold or offered for sale, warning that the print media crisis will reach the Middle East in the near future. This was discussed at the First International Media Conference held in Riyadh on May 18-19, 2009. They called for bridging the gap of fear regarding the shrinking print market by ensuring that paper media harmonizes with modern technology and daily technical developments.
