The Ministry of Culture moves to its headquarters in Diriyah, designed in the Najdi architectural style.

The Saudi Ministry of Culture’s decision to establish its headquarters in Diriyah signals that a profound appreciation for heritage underpins this choice, linking the Kingdom’s rich past with its present era of comprehensive civilizational development. This move aligns with the cultural and national dimensions of Saudi Vision 2030, reinforcing the Kingdom’s Arab-Islamic identity and emphasizing the importance of showcasing heritage and culture in all their diverse forms. Accordingly, the Ministry and its various commissions have relocated to their new headquarters in the Northern District of the integrated Diriyah development project. The building’s design draws inspiration from traditional Najdi architecture, complementing the broader initiative to transform Diriyah into a fully integrated urban center that preserves its historical character while offering deep cultural, tourism, heritage, creative, and artistic dimensions. This initiative is expected to shape contemporary cultural awareness—particularly among the younger generation—by introducing them to the Kingdom’s cultural depth, while establishing Diriyah as a global cultural hub that highlights the significance of culture, heritage, creativity, and the arts within the Kingdom. Spanning an area of 33,168 square meters, the headquarters stands as the largest standalone office building in Diriyah; it was designed to accommodate the Ministry’s teams and operational needs, providing a comprehensive work environment supported by advanced digital infrastructure, bespoke office layouts, and high-quality facilities. The building reflects Saudi heritage and creativity; its design draws inspiration from traditional Najdi architecture, and it has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification—the global standard for green buildings—specifically the Gold rating under LEED v4 for "Building Design and Construction: Core and Shell." It also secured the Gold "Mostadam" commercial certification under the national green building rating system. This achievement underscores a sustainable approach prioritizing energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and health and well-being, all in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. Since the launch of Vision 2030, the Kingdom has been actively developing cultural and heritage elements and events across the country. Efforts are underway to transform heritage sites into vibrant tourism and cultural destinations that showcase the Kingdom’s deep-rooted historical significance in this field, while simultaneously reinforcing a national identity that fosters values of construction, unity, and a sense of belonging.
