Over 100 countries and thousands of professional and public events... Frankfurt Book Fair 2026: The Czech Republic as Guest of Honor, with Latin America featured on cultural platforms.
Knowledge Affairs – Special
The Frankfurt International Book Fair is being held in the Federal Republic of Germany from October 7–11, 2026, with the participation of more than 100 countries. The Czech Republic is welcomed as the Guest of Honour, alongside the launch of multiple platforms at the fair dedicated to Latin American culture.
As stated on the website of the Frankfurt International Book Fair:
https://www.buchmesse.de/en
The 2026 edition of the fair will witness many changes, most notably the new design of the halls. The Frankfurt Book Fair continues to develop the concept of its halls, taking into consideration what matters to audiences and the book industry today. The fair is built around two main focuses: the visitor experience on the ground floor and international business activities on the upper floors.
The exhibitor directory contains a list of all exhibitors and their new locations. The fair also provides hall plans and their programs, as well as an events schedule. It also presents a range of platforms featuring new topics and contemporary encounters, including the Knowledge Center in Hall 4.1, the Latin America Platform showcasing voices and stories from Latin America, and the Matsuri Platform for manga, cosplay, and popular culture, in addition to readings, discussions, and dialogues.
The Frankfurt Book Fair area is located at the heart of the Agora, a new place for gathering, relaxing, and exchanging stories. Cube-shaped seats invite visitors, in 14 languages, to sit comfortably and share their stories. Throughout the area, publishers and events provide spaces for exploration and photography.
The new Knowledge Center (Hall 4.1, Stand J100), located in the hall for academic publishers and service providers, will provide a central platform for knowledge exchange and practical interaction within the publishing sector. The center is located near workstations and can accommodate up to 25 guests. In addition, the Trade Visitor Program at the Innovation Platform (4.1 A48) will feature presentations, workshops, and other activities organized by exhibitors in Hall 4.1.
Comics:
The new collective exhibition “Comics, Manga and Games” is located at Stand A76 in Hall 4.0. As comics are uniquely designed for storytelling across multiple media, the exhibition space has been expanded to include games. The exhibition focuses on storytelling across different media boundaries, from comics and manga to webtoons, graphic novels, and games.
The “Screen World” pavilion focuses on the latest films for children and young people, successful adaptations, and the question of which stories resonate with the hearts of children, teenagers, and young people today. The “Screen World” pavilion is located in Hall 4.0 of the Frankfurt Book Fair and offers families, children, and young people a distinctive cinematic experience, with premieres of major films and series, as well as announcements of films and books.
“In the Listening Lounge” for fiction, great stories meet distinctive voices. At the Frankfurt Audio area, the audio section will extend across two floors: publishing partners will be particularly highlighted at the Audio Business Center in Hall 4.1, while audiobook and podcast enthusiasts will find the latest stories and lectures in the public area in Hall 4.0. There, the brand-new “Listening Lounge” (Hall 4.0 J9) will highlight fantasy literature this year, with a silent disco for audiobooks and the presence of fantasy authors and audiobook narrators.
On Thursday, October 8, publishers, game development studios, authors, and funding organizations will meet at the Community Platform in the Festival Hall. The discussion will focus on rights, financing, and how to create interactive worlds from literary material. Practical examples will be presented through Pumuckl, The Pillars of the Earth, the storytelling game application ueberstories from Ueberreuter Verlag, and the independent game Tiny Bookshop, among others. The program will be held in English.
A new research paper on the use of artificial intelligence in audiobook production, prepared by Javier Celaya/Dosdoce.com in collaboration with the Frankfurt Book Fair, examines the impact of AI on audio production, highlighting its pivotal role in the sector and the challenges associated with it.
The Irish technology startup Druid Learning, winner of the Frankfurt Book Fair’s 2026 Wildcard Award, is transforming digitally archived content into AI-ready datasets. In an interview, CEO Niamh Faller explains how this process works and the limitations of the technology’s capabilities.
