The Arabian Peninsula: The home of horse domestication

The Arabian Peninsula: The home of horse domestication

Horses played an important role in the history of the Arabian Peninsula before and after Islam. Stories of heroism and generosity in which horses were a key player became famous. Before Islam, Hatim al-Tai slaughtered his horse to feed his guests when he owned nothing more precious. After the Hijra, the Holy Prophet sent one of the companions to buy horses from around the Peninsula to help Muslims in their war.
