The King Abdulaziz Public Library hosts cultural gatherings and publishes novels for young adults.
King Abdulaziz Public Library continues to offer its diverse cultural and knowledge-based programs to foster cultural awareness in the Kingdom, strengthen the various cultural elements that connect heritage with modernity, and present the Kingdom’s cultural identity through its activities and programs, which enhance the presence of national, Arab, Islamic, and global culture in general.
The Library offers a range of high-quality programs and activities aimed at enriching the cultural scene by activating strategic partnerships with leading national institutions and organizing events that bring together the arts, heritage, community culture, and knowledge.
As part of its efforts to promote historical research and document the national memory, the Library organized a discussion session entitled: “Historical Institutional Narrative: Transforming Events into a National Story,” featuring writer and translator Bandar Al-Harbi, Head of the Publishing and Reports Department at the Ministry of Energy. The session was moderated by Iman Saad Al-Ghamdi, Head of the Editing and Sources Department at Saudipedia. The discussion addressed the importance of documenting institutional history as a fundamental pillar for preserving national identity, explored mechanisms for transforming historical archives into inspiring stories, and examined modern approaches to presenting national achievements through historical narratives that connect the past with the achievements of the future.
The Library also organized a cultural meeting entitled “Papers of an Official Spokesperson,” featuring Fahad Al-Qathami, where he discussed experiences in strategic communication, the impact of words in shaping public opinion, and the importance of reading in supporting the professional character of media practitioners.
The Library activated its partnership with the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wirth) by offering a series of specialized workshops in traditional crafts, aimed at empowering talented individuals and transferring authentic craft expertise, thereby ensuring the sustainability of Saudi folk heritage and presenting it in a contemporary form.
The Library also organized an interactive workshop as part of its partnership with the King Salman Social Center entitled: “An Introduction to Mindfulness,” presented by Dr. Nora Al-Muhanna. The workshop focused on promoting psychological balance and mental concentration as part of quality of life.
In the context of deepening heritage awareness, the Library presented an artistic workshop entitled: “Camels in the Painting: Between Abstraction and Realism,” presented by visual artist Omar Al-Rashed. The workshop coincided with the celebration of World Camel Day, reaffirming the importance of camels in the Arab consciousness and Saudi cultural heritage. It also provided participants with an opportunity to explore the visual aesthetics of camels from the perspective of artistic inspiration, in addition to training in expressive drawing techniques, highlighting the role of the arts in embodying folk heritage and pride in national identity.
The Children’s Literature Department at King Abdulaziz Public Library continues to implement its cultural vision of developing content aimed at children and young people by launching a collection of high-quality publications during 2026. This aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s directions for the Year of Artificial Intelligence and keeps pace with the interests and knowledge aspirations of new generations. The young adult novel “The Mystery” will be released soon. Set in a smart city of the future, the novel offers a narrative experience exploring the impact of modern technologies and artificial intelligence on human life in an engaging style that aims to develop young readers’ imagination, enhance their intellectual curiosity, and encourage them to think and create.
The events are part of King Abdulaziz Public Library’s objectives to enhance cultural interaction, reaffirm the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and remain open to various cultural partnerships that support the Library’s strategy of becoming an integrated knowledge center for developing human skills and celebrating national cultural values.
